STUDIO7A was founded in 2002 by David Cole to provide a digital design and modelling service to the automotive design industry.

After graduating from Coventry University in 1985 with a First Class BA Honours degree in Industrial Design/Transportation, David began 12 years of employment with Ford, Volkswagen and SEAT, which saw him work in Germany, Spain and California.

In 1997 after managing one of Volkswagen's design studios in Germany, he chose to leave full-time employment to work on a freelance basis in California for clients including Ford, Hyundai, Subaru, Apple, Nike, and Motorola. In addition to this he was instrumental in establishing an automotive design program at the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, where he was subsequently appointed Director of Industrial Design in 2000. Following the success of his freelance design work, he established STUDIO7A Limited in 2002 and returned to England.

Since forming STUDIO7A David has gained a number of international car design studios as clients, and has also spent several years as a visiting tutor at

the Royal College of Art's Department of Automotive Design in London.
